Senovazné square in the centre of the old town of Prague was for
10 years one of the main construction sites in the city because it houses
the main underground collectors system for the whole town.
To crown these works on achievement the city authorities were looking
for a monument that could express the spirit of the city - music, combined
with a reminder of these underground water collectors. The solution
was the "Fountain of Musicians" by Anna
Chromy.
Piazza Navari in Forte dei Marmi, Tuscany, is the historic site from
which Michelangelo shipped some 500 years ago his marble blocks to Rome
and Florence.
Today it is the centre of the most fashionable beach in Tuscany. For
the restoration of this square the architects in charge were desperately
searching for a theme which would satisfy both the city fathers and
the "sopraintendente", the very powerful supervisors of the Italian
ministry of culture.
We contacted an artist with a proven
track record in the creation and execution of thematic concepts.
The result was a theme linked to the sea and the Mediterranean
in particular - Ulysses, which contended everybody. (www.annachromy.com)
